They say that every cloud has a silver lining and apparently Olivia Wilde is taking
that phrase to heart. The actress graces the cover of the
newest Marie Claire issue and claims that getting divorced from
her husband of 8 years, Tao Ruspoli, has its upsides stating,
"It makes you a more empathetic person, and I think it's made me a better actress."
So divorce equals better acting skills...does Jennifer Aniston know about this?
Apparently the Cowboys and Aliens star isn't the only one to
notice her higher caliber of acting. According to Wilde,
she's gotten kudos from David Shore, the creator of House, saying,
"You should get divorced every year; your acting's never been better!"
Umm...thanks, I guess.
Wilde married the Italian prince when she was only 18 years old, but the couple both parted on excellent terms.
"We're friends; his family is my family. You always have a choice to feel angry and not be friends.
But I can't handle the idea of walking into a room and seeing someone I have bad blood with.
I can't keep any negative relationship with anyone," says Wilde. Sounds like a mature and responsible philosophy.
Not very realistic, but the concept is nice. Wilde claims she had a hunch their elopement was a risk right from
the start confessing, "Our deal from the beginning was,'We're crazy to do this, but we're doing it
because we're in love and it makes us happy. The only reason to divorce is if one of us isn't happy. Life is too short.'"
The actress doesn't take divorce lightly though and doesn't think it should just be the automatic solution to any problem,
but "After really trying to make the relationship evolve in the way our lives had, I realized it wasn't a natural evolution.
" In other words, they grew apart.
Entering the dating world again is never easy, even for this stunning star.
Wilde says dating is scary and admits,I'm trying to be adult, entering the shark pool of dating, but I'm hopeless at it!"
The actress has recently been linked to a bevy of Hollywood hunks including Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake,
and Ryan Gosling. So far it sounds like she's handling the dating world just fine.
